A Cat Story of Two Cats

This is Eddie aka Edward P. Cat

This is Teddy aka Theodore H. Cat
Just recently he may have temporarily decided to be called Rocco.  I do not expect this will last.

Back in September,  my dear Eddie died unexpectedly.  I cannot write about it at all.  However just over a month after Eddie's death I was thinking how there was this hole in my house where another cat should be and my daughter sends me a photo of Ted, a stray at the shelter  who was not doing well.  He was withdrawn and he was failing to groom himself.

My daughter who is a shelter volunteer brought him home to her house where he resided under a futon in the spare room,  He was frightened.

I saw him and I said, "That's my cat."

Elizabeth with Theodore

A couple of weeks later, he was hiding out in my spare room.

He soon began to groom himself, boss my dog, Sophie, around and do some exploring.  He's a real part of the family now.

I want to thank Elizabeth, for her tender heart.  She has a houseful of pets including two rescue dogs, but she found a spot of Theodore and by doing so helped me fill a spot in my home that only Teddy could fill.

I'm going to also thank the Lord for animals, all types.  What a world of wonder, education, help and love we get from them.  Thank you, God.

My Eddie

My good cat, Eddie, we had many silly and happy times.  I will always remember the way he gently touched my cheek with his paw.

Thank you, Lord, for Eddie.

Three positive things

A couple of weeks ago, my oldest, Elizabeth, decided to post (on Facebook) 3 positive things that happened each day for a week.  I did not participate in that although my other daughter, Alex, did.  About a week ago, Elizabeth explained how hard that was as she was having very challenging days.  She also said that being thankful for positive 'things' was not quite as difficult as pinpointing positive happenings each day.  After thinking about that,  I decided I would try it starting with yesterday.

1. My wandering cat, Zeke, came home again.
2. When I watered the very droopy plant (I'm not sure what it is), it perked up considerably.
3. I lost a pound.  This was on purpose, not an accident.  I would prefer to never find that one again.

A few years ago I read an short article about the good effects of being thankful has on our minds and spirits.  The article suggested writing down five things you're thankful for each day.  Try not to say the same thing every time.  I remember one suggestion was "I'm thankful for pepperoni pizza."  This idea has not been hard for me as I am thankful to God for so many things every day.

So with a promise to post some sewing and/or art photos soon,  I close with this one.

I am thankful for my piano.

The Dog Days of Summer

History warning;  The Romans referred to these days of summer as dog days because the "Dog Star" Sirius was the brightest star in the sky at this time of year.  It was often thought of as bad or evil times.  The dates are believed to be mid-late July to mid-late August in the Northern Hemisphere.  But enough about that.  My dog days refer to summer with Sophie.

You've seen her before.  This is Sophie Louisa Tucker Jean Felton.  I know I overdid it on the name, but she doesn't mind.

That glossy evil eye is saying don't touch my chewie.  I promise she is Not a smoker.

Sophie loves, loves to ride in the car.  She tries not to show it, but it is one of her favorite activities.

She loves riding in the truck because she can sit in front and sniff the glorious smells arriving via the vents.

Unlike Zeke and Eddie, Sophie has no interest in TV.

Sophie Louisa, will you please sit still for your snowy day portrait?

No, she is not bowing before me.  She just fell asleep like this.

This wonderful, cat cuddling, car riding, chewie chewing dog came to me from the  Front Street Animal Shelter in Sacramento. In September 2012.

Thank you Front Street and thank you, Elizabeth.
