Oh No Sorry

Well, my 30 day challenge started off very well.  But then the holidays and my old nature happened.  So  I am going to restart it soon.  I'll let you know, if you care.  It's fine if you don't.

Confession time.  I love Austin Kleon.  Well, in a way, not like a sweetie nor like a son.  Like someone I might like to have as a good friend.  He listens to good music, reads interesting things, writes a good blog, tells anecdotes sort of.  He's interesting.  Yep, that's it.     His blog

Certainly I am not the writer he is, but  I like writing.  I love to make people laugh, but I don't know how to do that on paper, or computer.  People have told me I'm funny even my kids have said so.  Keep in mind my kids are adults so I think that when they say " You're funny, mom."   It's quite different from a teenager saying, " You're weird."  If I am funny and/or weird, I pray it's the good kind.

Poems:            The rain comes quietly but
                        Awakens a sleeping frog
                         Ribbit

It is rainwater
Dropping on a stone path
Splashing my boots

I thought they were 'haikus', but they may not be such.  They are, however, about rain and are by me.

Another               Not about rain

Clouds reflected in the
Window of a red house.
Early morn

Poem

Is it True?

They sometimes say
An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

It's also been said
That violets are blue and roses are red

I've heard reports
That some like the arts while others like sports.

Have they been discussed
Preventing  decay or removing rust?

On occasion they speak
Of  what they've found and who they seek.

Have there been mentions
Of heavenly streets paved with good intentions?

Has it been proclaimed
Who is at fault and who will be blamed?

You may well ask
 Is this the right time to complete the task?

One mustn't whine
It is almost the end and everything's fine.

The End

This poem was indeed written by me.  I like it perhaps you do too.  There may be more poems as I have plenty of them.  Please, if you use it, give me authorship.  Thank you

As it is nearly Easter, here is my favorite resurrection hymn.
May the Lord bless you every day.

Wandering to Fall

 I found this beautiful photo on the internet so long ago I don't even know where it is from except that it was taken in the Cotswalds, UK.

A poem of today and tomorrow.

 Summer morning cool and quiet no one up but me, sleepy eyes adjusting to dawn;

Sleepy eyes that awaken to a shadow of light creeping up the foothills sharing days;

Sharing days and mornings like this one with a silent creature , a spotted fawn;

A spotted fawn, a doe nearby to teach that it's okay to eat the roses that look that way;

That way are the roses but leave the daffodils and sage.  Ordinary tastes of  the garden;

Tastes of the garden for me are red like tomatoes and strawberries, cherry peppers small;

Small and round and spicy like an afternoon in the sun wandering its way to Fall.

Take a bit of a wander today.

I chose this one

So I started on this one yesterday.  I read through all the instructions as per the advice of the pattern and then cut out all the pieces.  There are 3 fabrics, orange print, citrus stripe and a  solid orange.  The pink fabric in the lover right corner is not any part of it.

Have you ever heard of woven fusible interfacing?  I hadn't.  Only non-woven and I had plenty of it.  Oh, no!  This pattern called for 'woven' fusible interfacing. I was all set to order some, Joann's has $1 shipping today (No Fooling), but today I also looked at my bills for this month.  Extra payments due for car and home insurance, tax prep fees and taxes, so even $1 cannot induce me to shop.  Therefore I'm going to use what I have.  I am, indeed, a minor rebel with a cause.

Onward.  I've cut out all the fabric and now must cut out the interfacing and fusible fleece.  It should sew up fairly quickly once the cutting out is done.  Let's vote for how much fun "cutting out a pattern" is.  One to ten with 10 being the most fun ever.  * TWO.*  I gave it a 2 because the challenge of making the most of the fabric is sometimes fun, otherwise it would be a 1. (A little rhyme there.)

Pictures of sewing the Birdie Sling by Amy Butler  and the finished product will follow.

Poem for today.

Oh, I used a hammer with several nails
I cut up some wood and filled up some pails
The dishes are washed and maybe the car
I guess now it's time to belly up to the bar.

Written by me, but not today.  I apologize if I have already given you this one.  I really like it.  If you are wondering, I seldom, if ever, belly up to the bar.    Cheerio.
