Pinterest

A show of hands,please, if you have a board or two on Pinterest.   Hands?  Ummmm. How about a show of hands if you have 5 or more boards?  Ahh, yes.  Now I see them.  Mine is also raised as I have a whopping 8 boards.  One of which includes Miscellany.  That one is so I can pin things I like that don't fit into other categories but I don't have to have another board.  When I decided to because a 'pinner', I decided not to be "one of those"  who have 25, 50, 100 or more boards.  I started with four and had only four for quite a while.  Then I added one more, later the Miscellany one I mentioned and just recently I added two,  the last ones are "Fabric is Fabulous" and "Yarn is Beautiful".

Some people who know me, know I am a stasher.  I have fabric, yarn, art supplies, and beading things stored throughout the house.  (I live alone so no one complains about this)  However, I have, or perhaps I'm starting to, become aware that stashing and my income are much less compatible than they were when I was working.  Hence the two new boards on Pinterest.   This way when I see fabric I want or a gorgeous yarn, I can have it at no cost and in a matter of seconds.

Not all of the ones I chose from Advanced Style are ones I would actually wear, but are ones  I admire when other older ladies wear them.   I just read today that some style magazines are starting to feature women of 'mature years' on their covers. Who gave them that brilliant idea?  It's about time!

It's January 19th

This day is smack dab in the middle between the birthdays of my 2 daughters.  My son's birthday is in November. His birth in November made my mother very happy as that meant someone else shared her birth month.  Back to the girls.  They are 3 years apart.  Even when they were little we celebrated their birthdays separately.  We like to let each one be "The Big Cheese" for a day.

I think I posted this one already, but this way those who may be new to this blog don't have to look back . . .

okay,  I was just about to write "to see the most wonderful children in the world"  but I'm going to spare you and them that motherly pride spiel.


About my projects,  I had a little set back on the weaving project. It's actually a good thing, because if I'd started weaving as it was my towels would have been a mess.  I had to unthread 1/2 the heddles and un-sley the whole reed. because I messed up.  It's okay. Live and learn.  So here's my re-threading photo.

The strings going up and down are the heddles, the pale green threads are my warp. You can see many on the right don't have warp through them.

Ahhhh, all threaded. Now for sleying the reed.

The shiny metal thing with slots is the reed. 
As you can (I hope) tell, I have lots more sleying to do.





I will return someday with finished towels and a pullover sweater and something else. 

Smile, it feels nice.

Kelpie Socks Done

Yup, finished them last night and here they are.

Let me just say that hand knit socks fit so well they can't help but be comfortable. And if knit of wool or other animal fiber they are warm.

Samples of other handknit socks,  The last pair were knitted by my daughter who won an honorable mention at the state fair for them.  Lest you think I'm absented minded, I do remember posting these photos previously.

Okay, Yes, it's a Resolution.

We say we're not going to do it this year. We seldom keep them, but maybe sometimes.  One year I resolved not to eat in my car.  I kept that one for 6 whole months before something went wrong.  Does anyone remember my very first blog post?   I gave myself 15 months to finish 65 unfinished projects.  Then I auditioned for Les Miserables and that slowed down the original plan. It's been over 17 months now, but that's okay.  Some of my friends have told me I should not have counted items I hadn't started even if I had the pattern, fabric or yarn for them.  I'm now going with that.

You saw the costume for my friend's granddaughter, yes?

Here's is my 6 ft grandson in his new robe below.

He is much admired by Nipper (left) and Sonny.  Sonny is a real dog and though he appears smaller in this photo he is nearly Nipper's size.

 Mittens for my sister in Arkansas. Sophie is ignoring everything.

Oh, did I mention resolutions?  I did.  So here it is.  I resolve to finish my weaving project, the one on the loom now. Also my Kelpie socks, only a quarter of the second sock left.  Also my pullover.  And one sewing project (other that bags for the Co-op).

That's the weaving in the background.  My goal is to have these four projects finished by the end of January and it's completely possible.  I want this to happen.

For Christmas I received a wonderful project bag from my daughter. It is made by Slipped Stitch Studios.   I had bought one for sock projects last year and love it.  The new one holds a bigger item and is perfect for the pullover.
